Nokia Asha 309 was announced along with Asha 308 and is featuring single sim version while Asha 308 is dual sim. These devices have been introduced by Nokia as smartphones which is the recent trend of blurring the lines between smartphone and featured phones. A little time back, Asha 305, Asha 306 and Asha 311 were called touchscreen devices.

The Asha 308 and 309 have newer version of Xpress browser which gives upto 90% compression, Nokia Nearby that provides local search and swipe based UI. It looks like Nokia is giving all it can to make these phones stay and has introduced these. The main features of Nokia Asha 309 are S40 OS, 2 MP camera, 3.0 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display, 800 MHz processor, 40 EA games for free and 1110 MAh battery. The available colors in this model are black and white.

The design is compact and comfortable to hold with one hand. The body of Asha 309 is made of plastic with glossy back. Thickness wise it is 13.2 mm with height and width of 109.9mm and 54mm respectively. The form factor is bar for this phone.

The display technology has been changed from resistive to capacitive for Asha 308 and Asha 309 with TFT capacitive touchscreen. The screen size is of 3.0 inches and has 65K colors with a resolution of 240×400 pixels. It has multitouch features. It weighs just 102g.

The camera is of 2MP for Asha 309 with a resolution of 1600×1200 pixels.The video recording is of 176×144@10fps is there. There is no secondary camera.
Internal Memory and Extendable Memory
The internal memory is 20 MB with 128 MB ROM and 64 MB RAM in Asha 309. This will give double performance. The external memory is expandable upto 32 GB and a 2 GB card is also included.

Announced in September, 2012 Asha 309 has been released in December, 2012. It has been priced around $99 or Rs.5,768.
Final Verdict
Nokia has certainly increased the features for Nokia Asha 309 with WiFi and certain applications. It is a budget device and Nokia has worked to give its best with Asha 308 and Asha 309. The certain downhills of dual sim will not be seen in Nokia Asha 309. The main con of it is not having a 3G.
